Hi experimenters and arcologists, here’s the latest update on contributions to our project up to Week 39, the one ending on Sunday, 25 September 2021. Remember, so far the only ways we recognize your contributions are through forum post likes, Discord chat likes, and Github pull requests.
https://forum.detroitarcology.org
We are open to adding new methods in the future, such as participating in meetings, uploading video recordings of work, and proposing to receive tokens via the DAO when it is ready.
This is your democracy and needs your input. We can’t move towards permanently affordable housing in Detroit for everyone without you. Please consider participating in any of the three channels above, especially responding to this thread.
Here are the stats counted from SourceCred so far, still experimental and subject to changing relative weights based on your feedback. Please reply to this thread if you have questions about how contributions are counted, have suggestions for improvements, or any other feedback. We are working together to design a system which will be part of our first legal LLC operating agreement, and to issue our governance token on the Ethereum blockchain. One proposal is that when our first house (3731 Northwestern St) is sold some time in 2022, we will conduct a liquidity event in which the sale proceeds are divided up among governance token holders who are eligible to participate (the third of token holders who actively work and contribute day-to-day), and they will be able to sell their tokens for cash at that time, triggering a taxable event. In the United States, I believe this would count as a capital gain subject to about 30% if you hold for less than a year or about 15% for longer periods. I am not an accountant or a lawyer, however, so please consult your professional advisors once the LLC operating agreement is finalized before you sign it.

Separately, we track work hours for those who wish to invest capital into 3731 and work toward its rehabbing and sale.
Paul Pham: 14 hours Paul Pham Work Log - #7 by cryptogoth
Adrian Laurenzi: 9 hours Adrian Laurenzi Work Log - #2 by adrian
(estimated, please feel free to document and update in a work log thread similar to those above)
Jason Perrin: 5 hours
Malik: 2 hours
Sam Corey: 6 hours
Desmond: 4 hours
Jonathan: 2 hours
One proposal is that SourceCred grain be treated 1:1 with hours of work. That is, each SourceCred grain, which represents approved effort from other members, counts as much as 1 hour of self-approved effort. The ratio is open for change and feedback is welcome on this point.
We’ll have an onboarding event soon so that everyone who is interested can get introduced to the technologies we use. These facilitate, but don’t replace, human relationships, so please keep introducing yourselves to each other and getting to know how each person views their ideal neighborhood and city.
See you next week.
